Virginia requires a breath test unless one is not available in which case a blood test may be done. You do not get to choose if you want a blood or breath test. All Virginia jurisdictions use the INTOX EC/IR II machine for breath testing, but not all machines are the same. Most have a deviation of .02% so depending on how much you ate, drank and the time from when you were pulled over to the time of the test all have an impact on your breath analysis reading.
